Company Secretary Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kempton Great Engines Trust as it embarks on an ambitious programme to showcase Kempton’s vital role in supplying much of London’s water and become a “must visit” international attraction.

The Kempton Great Engines Trust (KGET) is looking for a committed and enthusiastic volunteer to take on the role of Company Secretary. The successful candidate may be given the option of becoming a trustee.

The role is suitable for someone with experience or interest in the museum or heritage sector, and with good organisational skills. Knowledge of charity law is desirable, but training and support will be provided for the successful candidate.

KGET is the governing body for Kempton Steam Museum, supporting its day-to-day operations and driving its ongoing development as a successful and sustainable visitor attraction.

The Trust is now planning to expand the museum’s activities by offering substantial new space for both visitor displays and volunteer facilities.

The Company Secretary will play a key supporting role in realising these ambitions and will use their skills and capabilities to assist the KGET board to operate efficiently and effectively.

Attendance at KGET meetings, held monthly at the museum, which is located in Kempton, South West London, will be required.

The Company Secretary is also responsible for creating and sending out agenda and supporting papers ahead of meetings and producing accurate minutes.

The estimated average time commitment is about 30 hours each month.

The museum is entirely volunteer run and there are no paid staff, but KGET will approve payment of any reasonable expenses incurred performing this role.

Familiarisation and a full handover will be provided to the successful candidate by the resigning Company Secretary.

KGET is a registered company limited by guarantee and is also a registered charity.
