🔧 Steaming Weekends

Watch the world’s largest working triple-expansion steam engine come thundering to life. These are our headline events – not to be missed!

Opening times: 10:30am-4:00pm

Your ticket includes a free guidebook. Self-guided engine access runs 10:30am–1pm; guided tours run every 20 minutes from 1:10pm–3:10pm (minimum height 1.4m required).

✨ Special Events

From jazz nights to Halloween Lates, our special events are ticketed separately and priced individually. Visit our ticketing site for current prices and availability.

🏛️ Static Viewing Sundays

Can’t make a steaming weekend? We open most Sundays from March to October for free drop-in visits. The engine won’t be running, but the museum, architecture and exhibits are all yours to explore.

Opening times: 11:00am – 3:00pm

Limited refreshments available. Check our calendar before visiting as closures can occasionally occur.

Accessibility

The museum is accessible from ground to main floor via a lift. Please note that engine tours involve steep stairs and require a minimum height of 1.4m. Children must be supervised at all times.
