Visiting Information
Accessibility
The museum is accessible from ground to main floor level via a lift.
Tours & engine access (Steaming days only)
- Morning: Self-guided access to Engine No.7 from 10:30am–1:00pm (last entry 12:30pm)
- Afternoon: Guided tours every 20 minutes from 1:10pm–3:10pm (book on arrival)
Please note:
- Tours involve climbing steep stairs
- Minimum height requirement: 1.4m (4′7″) due to historic railings
- Children must be supervised at all times
Safety
Kempton Steam Museum is an industrial heritage site with moving machinery, steep stairs and hard surfaces. Please take care in all parts of the museum, and use handrails when using stairs.
Hampton & Kempton Waterworks Railway
The Waterworks Railway is operated by a separate organisation. Train rides require a separate ticket. Please visit the Hampton & Kempton Waterworks Railway to book your tickets and for more information on their featured events this year.
Important information
- We always aim to run the engine on advertised dates, but as with any historic machinery, mechanical issues may occasionally occur.
- Limited refreshments are available on static viewing days.
- The museum may occasionally close for operational reasons – please check before visiting.
